Take a break by getting out into Duluth this fall, it’s good for the heart (and soul)!

— Check out Spirit Mountain

Less than twelve miles away sits your opportunity to ride the Timber Twister, play on an 18-hole Disc Golf Course and hike the Superior Hiking Trail. They also have Putt-Putt Golf and a big inflatable pillow to jump on. Attractions are open Saturdays and Sundays 11-5:00p.m. until Oct. 24.

— Head to the Zoo

Lake Superior Zoo is open daily 10 a.m. -4:00p.m. Boo at the Zoo will be held Oct. 16, 23 and 30 and tickets need to be bought in advance. They’re selling Red Bull slushies, bubble tea and pumpkins. Plus there are animals, duh!

— Go to Fall Farm Fest

UMD Land Lab is hosting Fall Farm Fest on Sept. 25 11 a.m.-4 p.m at 3568 Riley Rd. Listen to the music, guest speakers, play games, and shop at the farmers market.

• Duluth Playhouse NorShor Theatre presents Monty Python’s Spamalot, Sept. 17-Oct. 3.

• Duluth Playhouse Family Theatre presents Roald Dahl’s Matilda, Oct. 1-17.

• UMD Theatre Presents Maxa, The Maddest Woman in the World: A New Horror Musical, Oct. 14-17.

• Duluth Playhouse Underground Theatre presents The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Oct. 29-31.

Dubh Linn Irish Brew Pub holds both open mic and professional stand up comedy shows starting mid-September. Professional shows require tickets and are Saturdays at 6:30 and 9:00 p.m. Open mic is free, Fridays at 10:00 p.m. If you’re under 21 you better get out of there before 10:30 p.m! The Recreational Sports Outdoor Program (RSOP) has outdoor activities, trips, equipment to rent and more. Students can also swim laps, open skate, and workout for free; just bring your UCard! Check out the RSOP Fall 2021 Catalog for all the options and information. 

— Browse local markets:

• AICHO’S Indigenous Food and Art Markets Summer 2021 is September 25, 11am-2:00pm. Vendors will be out selling everything from salsa to artwork. Located at the One Roof Parking lot at 12 E 4th Street in Duluth.

• Lester River Rendezvous is September 25, 10-5:00pm. Free event with food, crafts, historical reenactments and music, located at Lester River Road and Superior Street.

• Twin Ports Horror Society Art & Hobby Bazaar is Oct. 9, 2:30-6:30 p.m. Free event located at 222 E Superior St, Duluth.

— Get your Halloween on

The Duluth Haunted Ship is open Oct. 7-31, Scarium at the Aquarium is Oct. 26-28 and DC’s Best pumpkin patches can be found at Miller Hill Mall, on Central Entrance and Arlington Avenue 8:30 a.m. to dusk the week before Halloween.
