There will be a free concert featuring local artist Prof on Oct.18 in the Kirby Ballroom.
Starting when the doors open at 8 p.m., all UMD students are invited to enjoy a fun, energetic night of music with a talented rapper and Minnesota native. Prof is scheduled to begin around 9 p.m. that evening.
“We know a lot of people like him, he’s a local artist,” Senior Andrew Fisher said, one of several students helping to put on the show with Kirby Program Board. “We just wanted something a little bit different.”
The free concert is being sponsored by Kirby Program Board, UMD Homecoming Court and KUMD 103.3 FM. Students attending should come prepared to show their U-card at the door.
According to the Kirby Program Board Facebook page, the first 500 students receive light/sound activated bracelets to use during the concert.
UMD Senior Hailee Jofs has attended numerous Prof performances, and she admits she once had no idea who he was before going to a show.
“I didn’t know any of the songs at all,” Jofs said. “And that was the most fun I’ve ever had at a concert before.”
Jofs encourages anyone who has never seen Prof perform live to still come out and have fun, and she says he never disappoints.
“He always puts on an amazing show and he always gets the crowd involved, so that’s what I’m excited for,” Jofs said. “Just the atmosphere of being there is such an incredible experience.”
Come to the Ballroom before 9 p.m. this Thursday, Oct. 18 and celebrate another great homecoming week here at UMD.
