Randy from ‘Trailer Park Boys’ comes To Duluth

The world’s most famous assistant trailer park supervisor came into Duluth recently as part of “Randy’s Cheeseburger Picnic Tour.” Randy is a character on the Netflix show “Trailer Park Boys” and is touring the Midwest to promote the new season of the show.

Randy, whose real name is Patrick Roach, sang songs and made jokes referencing the show at Clyde Iron Works in Duluth. He talked about events that happened in the show and played several games with the audience. Roach’s character is known for having a big belly and loving cheeseburgers. One of the games was a competition to see who in the audience had the biggest belly.
The decoration and setup of the event was very reminiscent of “Trailer Park Boys.” The show takes place in a Canadian trailer park, where the characters are always on a shoestring budget. The banner for the event was strung up on a tacky blue tarp on the wall, and the price tags for the merchandise were scribbled on torn-off pieces of paper.
While the event itself was fun, Randy acknowledged that something was missing. John Dunsworth, better known as “Mr. Lahey” from the show, passed away suddenly last year from an unexpected illness. Randy and Mr. Lahey were best known as a duo both on the show, and on the stage.
“I’m not gonna lie guys, I’m pretty scared,” Randy said at the start of the show. “I’ve never done this alone.”
In a moment of seriousness, Randy took time to remember Mr. Lahey. Randy told the audience to dedicate the show in Lahey’s name. Randy and the audience shared a moment together to honor Mr. Dunsworth before kicking off the event. From there, Randy joked with the audience and sang ballads.
In the show “Trailer Park Boys,” Randy is notorious for his love of cooking and eating cheeseburgers, which is why the event is called “Randy’s Cheeseburger Picnic Tour.”
Blake was a member of the audience at the event, and was hand-picked by Randy to be his assistant for the rest of the show. He got to go on stage and help with the different events during the performance. Randy is also known for always being shirtless, so Blake took off his shirt too.

“It was crazy,” Blake said, “I did not expect this. I just showed up, now I’m shirtless, and I’m talking to everybody.”
He, like many other people in the crowd, has been following the show ever since it started in 2001. This fan following only grew bigger once Netflix bought the show, and started producing episodes itself in 2014. Even though Blake got to meet one of the characters from the show, he still remembered the legacy left by Mr. Lahey on the show.
“When Mr. Lahey passed away, I knew I had to see this one.” Blake said.
“Randy’s Cheeseburger Picnic Tour” continues into late April, stopping in other locations in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Canada. The 12th season of “Trailer Park Boys” premiered on March 30 on Netflix.
