Coming up on November 12th, be ready for the release of arguably the biggest new competitor to current streaming giants as Disney Plus looks to attract buyers through hugely popular franchises, and a slew of new original programming.

Disney is putting a lot of its faith and marketing in the hands of the new service, even calling it the future of the company. Disney Plus will, however, have to compete with many current streaming giants, as well as some other newcomers to the market. Netflix, Amazon Prime, and HBO have established themselves quite nicely on the streaming market so far. In addition, Apple TV+, and a newly formed HBO Max will also provide competition. So how will Disney Plus compete with all of these competitors?

To start, Disney has many of the biggest brands in entertainment today. The first thing you’ll see when you go to the main page of Disney+ will be images of these brands, all of the original Disney movies, such as the classic children’s animated movies “Moana” “The Lion King” and “Snow White and the Seven Dwarves”. They’ll also have all the Pixar original movies like “The Incredibles” “Toy Story” and “Cars”. Beyond that, they’ll eventually be looking to get back all the streaming rights of Marvel movies, and access to all Star Wars movies and shows. And the last big network they are marketing is that of National Geographic.

Along with the movies and shows that have already been made by these companies, Disney’s new streaming service will be coming out with original shows and movies that will be found exclusively on Disney+. Most notably, more live action remakes of Disney will come out such as “Lady and the Tramp”. Marvel shows will start to come out on Disney+ as well, such as “Falcon and Winter Soldier”, a Loki show, and “Hawkeye”. Star Wars will also have shows on the service, such as the much anticipated “The Mandalorian”. Beyond that, other things to look forward to include a High School Musical show and a Phineas and Ferb movie.

However, a big problem for Disney will be the fact that Disney+ will have only about 20% of the amount of content that Netflix has, but a solution could have been found already. Now that Disney owns 21st Century Fox, they will have the opportunity to choose from an incredible amount of movies and shows that they can include with their service. In fact, on their main preview page again, you can see that they will provide 30 seasons of “The Simpsons”, as well as eventually many of their most popular movies like “The Sound of Music” and “The Princess Bride”.

Another important acquisition they got in this deal was 30% ownership of Hulu, arguably the biggest competitor to Netflix up to this point, giving Disney 60% ownership of that service. Throw in the fact that Disney already owns ESPN as well, Disney will smartly offer a bundle of Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ for $12.99 a month. If you don’t want the bundle, Disney+ by itself will be $6.99 a month, compared to Netflix’s $8.99 a month.

It will be fascinating to see how Disney+ fares in this competitive streaming world, but with 43% of people already reporting that they will be looking to get the service, it already seems like they will be doing just fine.
