On March 29 the crisp cold air floating off Lake Superior didn’t keep tourists and locals away from Wild State Cider and Duluth Tattoo company’s “Tatts & Taps” event.
The event took place from 12-10 p.m., with participants being able to choose between more than 55 flash tattoos with prices ranging from $75-125.
One of these participants was Mike Nute, who got tattooed at the event.
“This was my first time hearing about this specific shop, Duluth Tattoo company, I’m definitely going to be checking them out again. I really liked the tattoo artist I worked with, Mike (Mitch Gogins) … he did really clean work, he does a lot of really cool styles so I’m looking forward to getting more tattoos,” he said.
“The drinks here are great, the people are nice, the service is always good … Love coming to Wild State, great place.” Nute said.
Mitch Gogins and Josh Kirkpatrick are co-owners of Duluth Tattoo Company.
“It started because one of our artists tattoos one of the people who does the brewing here,” Gogins said. “They kind of got us connected and last year we did one of the first ones ever. It was gangbusters … We had a line down the block before we even opened, so we decided to do it again this year and it’s been just as good.”
The event had a high turnout this year. “We got a few hundred names on the list so it’s been crazy,” Gogins said.
Gogins spoke about Duluth Tattoo Company's staff, saying “All of us really stand by our work and care about what we do.”
Duluth Tattoo Company is open to returning to Wild State next year. “We’d love to do more stuff like this,” Gogins said.
