Bernie Sanders Joins AG Ellison at Campaign Event Ahead of Midterm Election
Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont joined Attorney General Keith Ellison’s reelection campaign in Duluth to champion Ellison’s platform, on Thursday. Among the issues discussed at the event were healthcare, abortion access, voting rights and global climate change.
The midterm elections next month will be “the most important midterm elections in the modern history of this country,” Senator Sanders said. “We need elected officials who have the guts to stand up to the extremely powerful fossil fuel industry, and to tell them that their short-term profits are not more important than the future of this planet.”
The event was held at Clyde Iron Works Restaurant and Event Center in West Duluth. Attorney General Ellison and Senator Sanders were joined by former Superior city council member and union representative Dan Olson and Duluth Mayor Emily Larson.
“This gathering is about rallying people,” Attorney General Ellison said. “Helping people see that our state is worth fighting for. That our rights are on the line, and that we’re going to protect them.”
“Keith Ellison is one of the great progressive leaders in the United States of America,” Sanders said.
Minnesotans will have the opportunity to make their voices heard at the polls on November 8, either to oust or to reelect Attorney General Ellison.
