In honor of Women’s History Month, many UMD organizations are hosting events to help educate people on the importance of women throughout the years. Here is a list, including times, dates, and locations.
March 18, 4 p.m. in Griggs Center: Our History is Our Strength: Twin Ports Feminism - Speaker Dr. Beth Bartlett
"A discussion of the value of knowing women’s history, how understanding our history empowers us today — making connections to ancient times, 19th century feminism in the US, the laws and policies affecting women in Nazi Germany and Stalinist and contemporary Russia , and how this helps us understand the historic importance of feminist organizations in the Twin Ports – yesterday and today."

March 24, 2:30 p.m. - 4 p.m. as a Virtual Workshop: ECHO Workshop: Understanding and Addressing Gender-Based Oppression (OED X110, Office for Equity and Diversity, Education Program).
“The struggle to attain global gender equity has been a centuries-long battle. Although there have been significant advancements in the ongoing struggle for gender justice, many continue to disproportionately suffer from discrimination and violence. This course fosters awareness and dialogue around harmful gender norms, gender-based violence, and barriers to gender justice. We will also explore key strategies for interrupting and addressing harm, bias, and discrimination rooted in gender-based stereotypes and oppression.”
March 26, 7 p.m. - 8 p.m. as a Virtual Webinar: Women at Risk: Genocide, Ecocide, and Femicide. Free registration is available for UMD Students. Register by Wednesday, March 26th at 5:00 pm.
