Rising Duluth band, Death Valley Yacht Club, made up of UMD students Alex Oberton and Charlie Jacobs, made a visit to the Kirby Garage on Thursday, April 10 as a part of the event “Bouquet & Band.” Hosted by the Student Government Association (SGA), the UMD community assembled in the Kirby Lounge to listen to freshly written music from Death Valley Yacht Club, while creating bouquets.
The event started at 6:30 p.m, with the line for building bouquets beginning ten minutes prior. There was a wide variety of flowers available for selection, ranging from tulips to gerberas. The line of excited students lasted until the end of the event at 8:30 p.m.

Amidst the flowers and music, students mingled, having conversations over refreshments provided by the SGA, and participated in a t-shirt raffle presented by the band.
As the voices of Oberton and Jacobs rose in harmony above the students present in the Kirby Lounge, it was clear that the pairing of soft music with the natural beauty of the flowers created a cheerful atmosphere in anticipation of spring.
